The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program designed to make dental care more affordable for eligible Canadians who do not have access to private dental insurance. Eastdale Family Dental is proud to be a participating provider β€” you can receive the care you need without worrying about the cost.

The plan is administered by Sun Life on behalf of the Government of Canada and covers a wide range of essential dental services including exams, x-rays, cleanings, fillings, and more.

Do You Qualify?

CDCP Eligibility Requirements

You may be eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan if you meet all of the following criteria:

Canadian Resident

You are a Canadian resident for tax purposes.

Household Income

Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000 per year.

No Private Insurance

You do not have access to private dental insurance through an employer, pension plan, or purchased independently.

Filed Tax Return

You or your spouse/common-law partner have filed a Canadian tax return for the previous year.

Coverage amounts vary based on your household income. Canadians with a family income under $70,000 receive 100% coverage; those between $70,000–$79,999 receive 60%; and those between $80,000–$89,999 receive 40%.

How to Apply for the CDCP

Apply Through the Government of Canada

Applications are accepted online at Canada.ca, by phone at 1-833-537-4342, or by paper form mailed to your home.

Once approved, Sun Life will send you a member ID and coverage details. This typically takes a few weeks after application.

The CDCP covers households up to $90,000 annually. If your income is above this threshold, you are unfortunately not eligible at this time.
